Tetra-Therapy — Goal 2: Normalize Temperature & Sensation

Laser Therapy

Light and vibration, working at the cellular level to calm stressed tissue and restore sensation.

What This Therapy Is

Burning, tingling, cold feet, and numbness are often the symptoms that bring people to us in the first place — and they're also a visible sign of tissue under ongoing stress. Uneven skin temperature is one of the clearest signals we capture on thermography, which is why it's one of the first things documented at your evaluation. Left unaddressed, this kind of tissue stress tends to compound rather than stay static.

This goal is addressed through two complementary technologies: Class IV laser therapy, which delivers photobiomodulation — light energy that penetrates into affected tissue to support cellular activity and calm the inflammatory environment around stressed nerves — and a 128Hz ultrasonic nerve plate, which uses targeted acoustic vibration to stimulate the mechanoreceptors responsible for sensation in the feet and lower legs.

How It's Used in Your Program

Laser and acoustic therapy are introduced at Trial Visit 4, alongside your first hands-on experience with the home care equipment. In-office, treatment includes:

Class IV 10-watt laser. High-powered photobiomodulation applied to affected areas, penetrating deep tissue to support cellular energy and reduce inflammation.

128Hz ultrasonic nerve plate. You place your feet on the plate, which delivers acoustic stimulation at a frequency specifically chosen because it falls within the sensitivity range of Pacinian corpuscles — the deep-skin mechanoreceptors responsible for detecting vibration, and among the receptor types known to be affected earliest in the progression of neuropathy. The plate cycles on and off every 30 seconds during use.

Class III-B flat plate laser. A more localized, lower-intensity laser applied to specific areas of nerve compromise, complementing the Class IV treatment.

In the full 90-day program, laser and cellular repair therapies appear throughout your twelve visits, with particular emphasis at Visit 4. At home, you'll use DGYAO laser boots for 20–30 minutes daily and the nerve plate for 15–20 minutes daily — the two can be combined into a single session or used separately, whichever fits your routine better. Both devices are yours to keep after the program.

The science, in brief: photobiomodulation (laser) therapy has been studied in a randomized, sham-controlled trial specific to diabetic peripheral neuropathy, measuring neuron-specific biomarkers before and after treatment. See the research → The 128Hz frequency used in our nerve plate targets Pacinian corpuscles, mechanoreceptors known to be affected early in neuropathy progression, and foot-sole vibration at this frequency range has been shown to measurably influence sensory feedback and balance-related proprioception. Is It Safe?

Both Class IV laser and 128Hz acoustic stimulation are non-invasive, drug-free therapies with no systemic side effects reported in the clinical literature we cite. Most patients feel no heat sensation from the laser and describe the nerve plate as a light, comfortable vibration. Dr. Campbell will review your health history at your evaluation to confirm laser therapy is appropriate for your specific situation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Therapy

Will I feel the laser working?

Most patients feel little to nothing during Class IV laser treatment — no heat, no discomfort. That's expected; the therapy works at the cellular level, not through a sensation you're meant to notice in the moment.

Why does the nerve plate turn on and off every 30 seconds?

The cycling pattern is part of the protocol for stimulating the mechanoreceptors in the feet. We're continuing to gather manufacturer-specific documentation on the exact rationale for this pattern and will update this page once it's available.

Can I use the laser boots and nerve plate at the same time?

Yes — many patients combine both into a single home session. Others prefer to space them out during the day. Either approach is fine; what matters most is daily consistency.

Is laser therapy enough on its own?

No — laser and acoustic therapy address one of four goals in the Tetra-Therapy method. It's most effective alongside circulation, nerve signal, and structural work, not as a standalone treatment. See the full Tetra-Therapy method →

Curious where you're starting from?

A complete evaluation, including thermography imaging, is $49. No pressure, no obligation.
